AIKEN -Laura Lorene Edmunds Johnson, 91, formerly of Bradley, widow of Harold B. Johnson died February 29, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Home.
Born in the Ridge Spring Community of Saluda County, April 5, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Robert J. and Thelma Winn Edmunds. A graduate of Edgefield High School, Mrs. Johnson was also a 1947 graduate of the Barrett School of Nursing at the University Hospital School of Nursing in Augusta, GA. She was retired after many years of service from Dr. John Harrison’s office in Greenwood.Mrs. Johnson was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in North Augusta. She was formerly a longtime member of Troy United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Lois Hughes of Aiken and Kathi Hallman and husband, Edwin also of Aiken; grandchildren, Kim (Lester)Wilson of Edgefield, Cissy Wilson, Tyler(Becky) Wilson of Lexington, Christian(Holly) Perkins of Aiken and Eric(Deanna) of Long Beach, MS; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marian “Nookie” Harling of Edgefield.
Graveside services were conducted Saturday, March 3 at 2:00 PM at Oakbrook Memorial Park with Rev. George Boyd officiating.
The family received friends Saturday following the service at the Oakbrook Memorial Park Family Center.
